Samsonthe Strong Man, using his tiny mighty strength to lift weights above his head
- 11cm x 11cm (frame)
This tiny automata was made by L & A St. Leger, a husband and wife team based in Bridport. Trained watchmaker Laurence made his first automata, ‘Samson the Strongman’, 35 years ago. Since then, he and Angela have been working as miniaturists and creators of ingenious mechanisms. They exhibit internationally and are collected worldwide. Their subjects are charming, saucy and always funny.
Alongside tiny automata, the St Legers also make perfect dolls house miniatures including functioning scissors to egg whisks that are 1/12th scale. In 2015 Laurence won the Perfection in Miniature Award (PIMA) at Kensington Dolls House Festival for his fully working 1 cm Swiss army knife, complete with tweezers, toothpick, scissors and multiple blades!
