These solid little heart dishes demonstrate Kate’s mastery of glazes, making a beautiful decorative piece or functioning as a jewellery dish.
Kate Malone is one of the UK’s leading ceramic artists with an illustrious career spanning thirty years. She has developed an unmistakable and highly regarded style, evidenced by her unique, hand-made pots and intricately ornamented sculptures. In addition to her exploration of nature, Kate has spent her career pioneering glazing techniques via research and experimentation in the chemistry of glazing. Kate was a resident artist at The Harley Studios in 2007, producing an exhibition inspired by objects from the Portland Collection.
'I was interested to see the early natural history books, they were more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. The composition, focus and grace of each page were a revelation and it was a great privilege to see the first edition. The artists who painted the illustrations did so with the same wonder at nature as I feel when looking at natural specimens.'
