A tea towel featuring the 'Alphabet of Welbeck'.
This tea towel features a page taken from the visitor’s book to Welbeck Abbey. This large book was started by the 6th Duke of Portland on his arrival at Welbeck.
The ‘Alphabet’ was written at the end of the first year by family members including the 6th Duke’s stepmother, Lady Bolsover, half-brothers and sister Ottoline Morrell.
Drawings include a Welbeck rail wagon used to transport food from the kitchen along the tunnels, the Riding School, Greendale Oak and a view of the Abbey.
An early signature in the visitor book is that of Prince Leopold, Queen Victoria’s youngest son.
