Friday 24th September, 12noon
Join us for an online talk with art historian James Rawlin, who has selected the artworks in the exhibition Coast, Country, City.
For this exhibition from The Jerwood Collection, he has selected modern and contemporary landscape paintings by British artists. He is interested in exploring how living through lockdown has changed our perception of our landscape.
"These landscape paintings predate the strange time of 2020. I’m interested in whether our experiences of the year changes how we view these landscapes. Not only this, how might they differ from the artist’s original interpretation?”
James was Head of Modern and Post-War British Art at Sotheby's for a decade, and now his consultancy assists with the development of collections, locates lost works of art, and curates exhibitions.
